The GSDS Society is an initiative started by (but not limited to) members of the Gender, Sexuality and Diversity degree at La Trobe University. Gender, Sexuality and Diversity Studies (GSDS) is an interdisciplinary area of critical inquiry focusing on how our bodies and identities are categorised and lived out in social, political and ethical relations. More specifically, GSDS examines the complex intersections between markers of identity such as sex, gender, femininity, masculinity, sexuality, ethnicity, nationality, ability, class, and age.
The aim of our collective is to foster a community that takes this method of inquiry outside the classroom and into the “everyday” through events, activities and academic support groups underpinned by intersectional feminist politics.
We encourage enthusiastic and varied debate- however; we do ask that members approach discussions in a respectful and considerate manner.
