LTSU - President

Monika Galovic

Hello La Trobians, welcome to 2023!

For all the new students at La Trobe, get excited for your next few years here, and enjoy every moment of it.

I would like to start by acknowledging the traditional owners of the lands that LTSU operates on, being the Wurundjeri, Latjie Latjie, Barkindji and Yorta Yorta peoples. I acknowledge that the lands on which each campus is built are Aboriginal lands, that sovereignty was never ceded, and that I pay my respects to their elders past, present, and emerging. I would also like to acknowledge the different cultures, and the rich and diverse community that exist across the student body.

My name is Monika Galovic, I am your 2023 La Trobe Student Union (LTSU) President, who will represent and advocate for all La Trobe University Students at the Bundoora Campus. As the peak representative body for students at Bundoora, LTSU has and will continue to positively shape student life. We have illustrated this through introducing the ‘chill-out’ trolley for students in the library, Welfare BBQs, and holding events on campus to enhance culture. LTSU has not only impacted student culture but has also fought the university to get almost a million dollars back into student pockets, extended library hours, as well as providing free and professional advocacy for all. In 2023, the LTSU will continue to provide these services and host exciting and engaging events. Moreover, we will always advocate and prioritise improving the lives of students, whether you’re a student living in residential accommodation, an international student, a mature age student, or any other student at La Trobe. Remember to enjoy and be present for your time at university. At the end of your experience, what you’ll remember is the new ideas you discovered, the challenges you overcame, and the life-long friendships you built.

The LTSU will always have your back!
